Founded in 1993 by Peter Jackson ('Jack'), the business focused on supporting the local council (Hampshire County Council) and their standby power requirements.
At the turn of the millennium, following an increase in demand for standby power, Adam Jennings (current MD and Dukie Alumni) joined DQM to support and train with Jack in preparation for his retirement. Jack retired in 2006 and sold DQM in its entirety to Adam.
Continued growth over the following years saw the 'one-man-band' expand with the introduction of new staff and services offered, including Standby Power ancillary equipment, Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS), switchgear, etc.
DQM has been supplying, installing, maintaining, and repairing standby diesel generator systems and associated equipment to a wide variety of customers for nearly 30 years. These range from: Emergency Services; Local Government; Hospitals; Nursing Care Homes; Data Centres; Hotels; Shopping Centres; Schools; & Private Residences.
It goes to say that DQM does not have one specific type of customer and therefore do not believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach to their work.
Communication is vital, not only with customers but with suppliers. DQM strives to keep regular contact with its partners and supply chain to ensure little or no disruption to DQM or customers. This communication meant they could adapt their working practices, priorities and staffing to keep up with the demand even amid a Global Pandemic and final deadlines of Brexit!
As a recognised Kohler-SDMO dealer and Genesal Energy distribution partner, DQM pride themselves in the equipment/systems they choose to install. All DQM engineers are fully trained and experienced to work on a wide variety of systems, not only the equipment they install.
DQM offers maintenance contracts tailored to suit their customers' requirements, incorporating the recommended servicing of equipment based on UK best practice and as advised by the manufacturer. Customers can, therefore, be assured of the longevity and reliability of the equipment to provide backup and continuous power when required.
Committed to 'Delivering Quality Maintenance' through continuous improvement, they hold a UKAS accredited ISO 9001 certification for their Quality Management System. This accreditation demonstrates and supports their commitment to providing a high level of customer satisfaction and compliments their existing accreditations with Safe Contractor, Constructionline & CHAS.
Due to continued growth, DQM has been expanding their engineering team to keep up with demand, with the focus now on implementing an apprenticeship intake programme. As if that wasn't enough, DQM will be introducing a new Environmental Management System and launching their new in-house bespoke CRM software solution to improve staff efficiency… what a busy time ahead!
We have two staff who are former Dukies, two ex-forces and another married to someone still in service as well as our civi-street workforce. If you are an engineer looking for a different career path feel free to drop us a message and if we can't help ourselves we may be able to point you in the direction of other contacts we have.
