The TDF works to develop a culture of giving across the related alumni and parent groups with support from The Dukies’ Association, the Old Boys’ Association, staff and Friends and Parents of the School. By aggregating donations of money and time the School can leverage and develop a richer learning environment for today’s Dukies.
Many School Alumni were very fortunate to have had an excellent education provided free via their parent’s military service, so it is natural that they wish that the school now develops on from the selective boys only environment in the post WWII period to the multi-gender academy that it now is.
The mission of The Dukies' Foundation (TDF) is to work in partnership with the Duke of York's Royal Military School to further develop and enhance the outstanding learning environment for today's Dukies. It does this by:
· providing additional funding for the School to enhance, widen and enrich the academic and extra-curricular education.
· providing bursaries for students whose family are facing financial hardship that threaten the student's position in the School
· donating to other activities as the Trustees shall from time to time see fit.
The TDF provides regular updates to its donors via email, written pieces and also via in-person meetings, many of which are held in school and at London locations for ease of travel. This keeps communication clear and shows the immediate impact of donations. Also, alumni attend meetings and are invited to talk about the impact of bursaries they have received, which consistently have a significant life impact for the recipient.
