Peter was born in Mhow in India where his father, Wilfred, was serving in the British army (more details please)

He came back to England at the age of 8 and went to the Duke of York’s Military School in Dover. He excelled academically and at sport, rising to become a senior prefect and Victor Ludorum in 1949.

Peter was determined to follow in his father’s footsteps and gained a place at Sandhurst Military College in Camberley as an officer cadet and was commissioned into 22 Regiment of the Royal Artillery, serving in Germany, Hong Kong and Korea when he took the ‘golden bowler’. Peter had become the youngest Captain in his regiment.

Thereafter he set up his own Personnel Consultancy in London, eventually retiring to live in France.

He revisited the school on many occasions, especially for Remembrance Sunday parades.

Peter left a donation to his much loved school, of which he was very proud and had many fond memories. “Play Up Dukies!”
