Jim Dove layed the ANZAC Day wreath at Port Macquarie NSW on behalf of the New Zealand Defence Force.
Anzac Day, 25th April, marks the anniversary of the first campaign that led to major casualties for Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. The acronym ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, whose soldiers were known as Anzacs.
Jim told me;
I had two ANZAC day parades this week, first one on the usual ANZAC day parade, 25th April and the second one for the Mingaletta Nursing home where Mary (Jim's late wife) resided, have their ANZAC day on the 26th, as no one would visit the nursing home because all relatives/friends would be at the big parade. So I laid their wreath today said a few words to a full house and sat through a very good neutral religious service.
I have attached a photo with all of my medals and they are L to R;
NZ Active service medal GSM with clasp Malaya (George VI Head) 18 years LS & GC NZ Defense Medal Merdeka/Freedom Malaya NZ Army 150 yrs Commemoration medallion (not allowed to be worn when wearing uniform)
